xmms missing from Ubuntu 8.04

I like streamtuner, and it depends on an external audio player. I’ve been using xmms for this for a long time, but now it is gone from Ubuntu, replaced by xmms2. xmms2 does not work with Streamtuner, but Audacious does. All you need to do is install Audacious, and change the player settings in streamtuner from xmms to audacious. It works as well as, if not better than xmms.

quick howto steps:

From terminal,

sudo apt-get install audacious

In streamtuner, choose Preferences from the Edit menu

Click on Applications in the left column.

change ‘xmms’ to ‘audacious’ for Listen to a stream.
